On 16th October 2025, Government Degree College Ganapavaram organized an awareness program to emphasize the importance of food security, sustainable agriculture, and reduction of food wastage. The program aimed to educate students about the global theme of World Food Day and encouraged responsible food consumption practices that support environmental and human well-being.
The event was held under the guidance of Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal of the college, who inaugurated the program and highlighted this year’s theme – “Hand-in-hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” calling for solidarity across borders, sectors, and communities.
Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari stressed mindful eating habits, the preservation of local food traditions, and minimizing food waste as vital responsibilities for all.
Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Ch. Chaitanya, Lecturer in Botany, Sri S. Venkanna Babu, Lecturer in Commerce, and all first-year students actively participated, engaging in discussions to promote sustainable food systems and healthy choices.
This initiative reflects the college’s commitment to social responsibility by spreading awareness among the students about global efforts to build a nourished and sustainable future for all.
