The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) & Science Association of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram, organized an Awareness Programme on “Amaravati Quantum Valley and Quantum Technologies” on 31 October 2025.
The chief guest for the session was Dr. Vishnubhatla Lakshman, a philanthropist, former semiconductor researcher, and NRI scientist from Saripalle village, who has earlier contributed ₹70,000 as cash awards to the college toppers. In his inspiring address, Dr. Lakshman explained how technological advancements are improving human life and encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a creative mindset to succeed in the fast-evolving scientific world.
Sri K.V. Ganesh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator and Lecturer in Physics, elaborated on the National Quantum Mission and shared that Amaravati is set to become India’s first “Quantum Valley”, with the support of IBM, TCS, L&T, and other startups. He further informed that the initiative aims to train 50,000 students by April 2026, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in quantum innovation.
Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, appreciated the efforts of IQAC for organizing the programme and encouraged students to register for Quantum Technology Training Programmes. She highlighted that as per APSCHE guidelines, Quantum Innovation Centres (QICs) will soon be established in various degree colleges across the state.
Students actively participated in the session and showed great enthusiasm to learn about Quantum Computing and emerging technological frontiers.
