As part of the 58th National Library Week celebrations held from 14 to 20 November 2025, S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram organized a series of activities to promote reading habits and library usage among students. The week-long observance aimed at fostering intellectual curiosity, enhancing information literacy, and encouraging active engagement with books and library resources.
1. Mass Reading Activity – 15 November 2025
A Mass Reading Programme was conducted on 15 November 2025 on the college campus. Students from all departments participated enthusiastically by reading books, newspapers, magazines, and reference materials for a dedicated one-hour session. Faculty members motivated the students by sharing the importance of consistent reading for academic growth, critical thinking, and personal development. The activity created a vibrant reading environment and set the tone for the week-long celebrations.
2. Visit to Ganapavaram Mandal Public Library – 18 November 2025
On 18 November 2025, students visited the Ganapavaram Mandal Public Library as part of the National Library Week programme. The visit provided them with an opportunity to explore the wide collection of books and understand various aspects of library functioning. Students familiarized themselves with the reference section, reading halls, cataloguing system, and available digital facilities.
The librarians explained the process of borrowing books, the role of public libraries in community learning, and the importance of developing strong reading habits. The exposure helped students gain a deeper appreciation for public library services and their relevance in academic and personal enrichment.
3. Student Book Review Activity – 20 November 2025
A Student Book Review Activity was conducted on 20 November 2025 under the coordination of Dr. Ch. Chaitanya, Lecturer in Botany. Students presented reviews of books they had read during the week, summarizing key ideas, themes, and lessons learned. The activity encouraged analytical thinking, improved reading comprehension, and enhanced presentation skills. Faculty members appreciated the depth of understanding and creativity displayed by the participants.

Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari and Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani commended the initiative and lauded the efforts of faculty and students. They emphasized the importance of cultivating strong reading habits and highlighted how libraries serve as essential centers for lifelong learning. They encouraged students to make regular use of both college and public library resources.
