NSS Special Camp@KOTTAPALLI – Day 6-28.11.2025

The NSS Unit–I of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram continued the 7-Day NSS Special Camp at Kottapalli Village on 29 November 2025 with the participation of 50 NSS Student Volunteers. The camp is being conducted under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. G. Venkata Ramana.

Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari appreciated the dedicated service of the volunteers and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to community welfare. Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani motivated the students to cultivate empathy, leadership, and responsibility through active participation in village-based service activities.


Forenoon Session: Medical Camp

Day-6 began with a Medical Camp for villagers, women, and children of Kottapalli.

The camp was led by:

  • Dr. M. Sabitha, Associate Professor, Government Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada
  • Dr. V. Prasanthi, CHO, Kothapalle Panchayat

The medical team conducted general health examinations and provided guidance on:

  • Women’s health and preventive care
  • Anaemia, diabetes, and hypertension
  • Importance of timely check-ups and nutrition
  • Hygiene and healthy lifestyle practices

NSS volunteers assisted with registration, crowd management, and supporting senior citizens during the camp.


Post-Lunch Session: Health Interaction & Doubts Clarification

In the afternoon, Dr. M. Sabitha and Dr. V. Prasanthi conducted an interactive session, responding to villagers’ questions on:

  • Common health problems
  • Lifestyle-related diseases
  • Adolescent health issues
  • Seasonal infections and preventive care

The villagers participated actively and received personalised medical advice.


Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse & Social Media Responsibility

A focused awareness programme was conducted on “Drug Abuse Prevention and Responsible Use of Social Media.”

The speakers KV Gansh Kumar, IQAC Coordinato & Sri P.V.Ramesh Babu, Lecturer inComputer Applications explained:

  • Physical and psychological dangers of drug addiction
  • Impact of peer pressure on youth behaviour
  • Safe and responsible use of social media platforms
  • Avoiding misinformation, cyberbullying, and harmful online practices

Volunteers interacted actively and shared their views during the discussion.


Community Interaction

Volunteers visited households in Kottapalli and interacted with villagers, promoting awareness on hygiene, healthy habits, and safe digital behaviour among youth. They encouraged villagers to utilize the medical services provided through the camp.


Outcome of Day-6

  • Villagers received free essential health check-ups and medical counselling.
  • Women gained confidence in addressing personal health concerns.
  • Youth understood the risks of drug abuse and the need for disciplined online behaviour.
  • NSS volunteers developed organisational skills, community interaction experience, and awareness campaign execution.
  • The camp strengthened the connection between the college and the adopted village through meaningful service.
