The NSS Unit–I of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram continued the 7-Day NSS Special Camp at Kottapalli Village on 27 November 2025 with the active participation of 50 NSS Student Volunteers. The camp is being conducted under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. G. Venkata Ramana.
Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari appreciated the commitment of NSS volunteers and encouraged them to participate in green initiatives that support environmental protection. Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani motivated the students to conserve nature and develop responsibility towards ecological balance. The IQAC Coordinator was also present during the programme.
➤ Forenoon Session: Plantation Programme
Day-5 was dedicated to a Plantation Drive in Kottapalli Village.
The programme was led by the invited guests:
- Dr. G. V. Sarada Devi, Lecturer, GDC Ganapavaram
- Dr. Ch. Anuradha, Lecturer, GDC Ganapavaram
Under their guidance, NSS volunteers planted 100 saplings in various public spaces, school premises, and selected locations across the village.
The guests highlighted the importance of:
- Increasing green cover
- Conserving the environment
- Protecting the planted saplings for long-term growth
- Developing environmental responsibility among youth
Volunteers actively participated by digging pits, planting saplings, watering them, and placing protective covers.
➤ Post-Lunch Session: Sapling Maintenance & Awareness
In the afternoon session, volunteers divided into groups and:
- Watered the newly planted saplings
- Placed tree guards
- Conducted a brief awareness drive with villagers on the importance of plantation, air quality, and environmental sustainability
Villagers appreciated the initiative and extended their support in maintaining the planted saplings.
➤ Community Interaction
NSS volunteers interacted with the local residents and encouraged them to take part in protecting the saplings. The community members assured their cooperation in ensuring the survival of the plants.
➤ Outcome of Day-5
- 100 saplings were successfully planted in Kottapalli Village.
- Volunteers learned teamwork, environmental responsibility, and the importance of plantation drives.
- The village community actively participated and agreed to maintain the saplings.
- The programme strengthened students’ commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.
