Sri Chintalapati Vara Prasada Murthy Raju Government Degree College, Ganapavaram observed the death anniversary of Amarajeevi Sri Potti Sriramulu on 15 December 2025 as “Atmarpana Day”, in accordance with the instructions issued by the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Andhra Pradesh.
The programme was organized by the Department of History, under the coordination of Sri P. Bhaskararao, Lecturer in History, with the objective of creating awareness among students about the life, ideals, and supreme sacrifice of Amarajeevi Sri Potti Sriramulu for the formation of the Andhra State.
The event was held under the guidance of Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, who emphasized the relevance of Sri Potti Sriramulu’s selfless sacrifice in shaping the identity and aspirations of the Telugu people and inspired students to uphold values of dedication and service.
Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani highlighted the importance of remembering national heroes and encouraged students to draw inspiration from Sri Potti Sriramulu’s commitment to social justice and public welfare.
As part of the observance, Essay Writing, Quiz, and Elocution Competitions were conducted for students. The competitions focused on Sri Potti Sriramulu’s life, freedom struggle, historic hunger strike, and his contribution to the formation of the Andhra State. Students participated actively and expressed their understanding of his ideals through their performances.
The observance of Atmarpana Day successfully instilled patriotic values, a sense of social responsibility, and respect for selfless service among the students.
