Marking the renowned Indian English author RK Narayan’s birth anniversary on 10th October, a special session was arranged by the Dept. of English in the IQAC room. The session was chaired by Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal who, while addressing the students, recollected the ever-lasting impression of ‘Malgudi Days’. Dr. T. Akkiraju, In-charge, Dept. of English enlightened the students about Indian English Literature & the Trio -RK Narayan, Mulk Raj Anand & Raja Rao. Dr. Ch. Anuradha, Dept. of English urged the students to read Narayan if they wanted to improve their English language.
The entire event was organized by I BSC students: D.V. Deepika & S. Prathima invited the guests onto the dais; K. Kumari presented the author’s biographical details; Y. Nivedika presented the writer’s awards & honours; N. Anjibabu gave the details of the writer’s popular works; and finally P. Swarupa Rani proposed a word of thanks to the guests. About 45 students participated.
