In light of the growing concerns regarding drug and tobacco use among students, and as per the instructions of APSCHE, the Department of Chemistry conducted a poster-making and slogan competition highlighting anti-drug and anti-tobacco awareness on 07.08.2024.
A total of 14 students participated, and the poster by Mr. T. Rajesh, II B.Sc (Chemistry), was adjudged the best and sent for the state-level competition. Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Ch. Chaitanya, NVNB Srinivasa Rao, Incharge, Dept. of Chemistry, Dr. T. Akkiraju, Incharge, Dept. of English, Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Coordinator, WEC, and Smt. P. Bala Manikantha, GF in Commerce, visited the gallery.
The Department of Chemistry, in association with the Dept. of Social Work, HR Club, and Inclusive Centre of the college, conducted an awareness program on anti-drug and anti-tobacco issues under the presidentship of Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari on 08.08.2024. The program aimed to educate students about the ill effects of drugs and tobacco on health and the legal consequences that arise from using these substances.
Sri V. Venkateswara Rao, SI of Police, Ganapavaram PS, Dr. PHS Santhosh, Civil Assistant Surgeon, and Sri Wilson, Community Health Officer, PHC, Ganapavaram, were the resource persons. All teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students from I, II, and III years, attended the program. At the end, prizes were distributed to the winners and participants of the poster and slogan competitions.
