Cyber Crime Awareness Programme-04.03.2026

The Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Programme on 04 March 2026 in collaboration with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Women and Child Welfare Department to create awareness among students about the growing threats of cyber crimes and the preventive measures to ensure safe digital practices.

The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, who addressed the students and emphasized the importance of cyber awareness, responsible digital behaviour, and safeguarding personal information in the digital era. She encouraged students to remain vigilant while using online platforms and to report cyber crimes through proper channels.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ch. Anuradha, Coordinator of Women Empowerment Cell, along with P. Balamanikanta, Member of WEC.

The resource persons for the programme were:

  • Sri A. Manikumar, Sub Inspector of Police, Ganapavaram
  • Smt GBB Vijayalakshmi, ICDS, Women and Child Welfare Department
  • Smt G. Chandravathi, ICDS, Women and Child Welfare Department

During the session, Sri A. Manikumar delivered an informative talk on various forms of cyber crimes such as online fraud, phishing, cyberbullying, identity theft, and social media scams. He shared real-life examples and explained how negligence and lack of awareness can lead to serious consequences. He also guided students on precautionary measures and the procedure for reporting cyber crimes through official channels.

GBB Vijayalakshmi highlighted the role of government departments in protecting women and children from cyber exploitation and advised students to use digital platforms responsibly. G. Chandravathi explained the support systems available under the Women and Child Welfare Department and encouraged students to seek help without hesitation in cases of cyber harassment or online threats.

On this occasion, Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Lecturer in Economics, addressed the gathering and appreciated the Women Empowerment Cell for organizing a timely and socially relevant awareness programme for the benefit of students. IQAC Coordinator Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar also appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of such awareness programmes in promoting responsible digital citizenship among students.

A total of 60 students actively participated in the programme. The session was highly interactive and informative, and the programme concluded successfully with a vote of thanks.
