On 08.01.2025, students from II B.Sc (Hons) Computer Science, II B.Sc (Chemistry-Physics Minor), and III B.Sc (M.P.Cs) (a total of 38 students) visited the APGENCO 5 MW Solar Plant at Gollagudem near Chebrole as part of their academic curriculum. The visit provided a practical understanding of renewable energy production and solar power technology.
The field visit was led by Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal of the college, accompanied by Sri P. Madhu Raju, Vice Principal, Sri K.V. Ganesh Kumar, Lecturer in Physics, Sri K. Giribabu, Lecturer in Computer Science, and Smt. Lakshmi Kumari Garu, Record Assistant.
At the site, students were welcomed and guided by the Site Engineer, Sri K. Naga Peddi Gangachari, Site Incharge, Sri P. Gopi, and Technician, Sri C.H. Raju. They provided detailed insights into:
- The process of solar power generation using photovoltaic technology.
- The mechanism of power transmission from solar panels to the grid.
- The operational aspects of the solar plant.
Students were actively engaged, asking questions and gaining a deeper understanding of the applications of solar energy in sustainable development. The interactive session bridged theoretical knowledge with practical exposure to modern energy solutions.
This educational visit not only enhanced students’ academic knowledge but also inspired them to explore renewable energy technologies and their implementation for a sustainable future.
The college appreciates APGENCO for their support and cooperation in making this field visit a valuable learning experience.
