A Free Cancer Screening Camp was organized at Sri Chintalapati Vara Prasada Murthy Raju Government Degree College, Ganapavaram by the Lions Club, Ganapavaram, in collaboration with the IQAC and NSS Units–I & II of the college. The camp was inaugurated by Unguturu MLA Sri Patsamatla Dharmaraju garu, who highlighted the importance of early cancer detection and appreciated the Lions Club and the college for bringing quality health services to rural communities.
The programme was conducted by the expert medical team from Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute, Hyderabad, offering comprehensive cancer screening services to women.
Services Offered
The medical team provided a wide range of free diagnostic services, including breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening (Pap smear), mammography, ultrasound scanning, general physician consultation, and awareness counselling. Women were also educated on early warning symptoms, preventive lifestyle practices, and self-examination techniques aimed at reducing cancer risk.
The event witnessed active participation and support from the Lions Club leadership, including PMJF Ln. Epuri Satyanarayana, Lions District Governor, and Ln. MJF Naresh Kumar, President, Lions Club Ganapavaram.
Ln. Konisetti Ganesh, the Camp Sponsor and Organizer, extended full support in coordinating the medical team and ensuring smooth conduct of the programme.
From the college side, Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari encouraged women from the campus and surrounding villages to take part in the camp for preventive health care. Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani expressed gratitude to the Lions Club and medical team for conducting a community-oriented health initiative.
The activity also saw the participation of Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator; Dr. G. Venkata Ramana, NSS Programme Officer – Unit I; and Sri Sk. Moin Ansari, NSS Programme Officer – Unit II, along with faculty members and student volunteers.
A total of 228 women, including students, parents, and members of the local community, availed themselves of the screening services. The camp proved to be highly impactful, creating strong awareness on early detection and preventive healthcare.
