Dept of Economics Organized a group discussion for I BA students on the topic “SOCIAL MEDIA – PROS AND CONS”. The discussion aimed to explore the advantages and disadvantages of social media and its impact on students in particular and society in general. Points discussed Pros Connectivity Information sharing Business and career Opportunities Cons Time killing Cyberbullying Misinformation Addiction and distraction Suggestions Responsible use Platform regulation Time setting 25 students were divided into four groups for the discussion. Discussion went well and students realized the negative impact of social media. After the discussion, students noted the points discussed and recorded for future reference. Discussion Highlights Time saving Money saving Human disconnect Human connect Exposure to unwanted things like betting apps. Which can potentially leads to the loss of money – Approaching unregulated loan providers – Stress – Suicides… Girls must be careful while sharing things Boys must be ethical External control measures to limit the usage time
