Independence Day Celebrations (Har Ghar Thiranga)-09.08.2024 to 15.08.2024

Independence Day is celebrated annually on 15 August commemorating the nation’s independence from the United Kingdom on 15 August 1947. This date marks the day when the provisions of the Indian Independence Act, which transferred legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly, came into effect. India attained independence following a movement noted for largely non-violent resistance and civil disobedience, led by the Indian National Congress under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.

At our Government Degree College, the principal, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, hoisted the flag, followed by the national anthem performed by the students. As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative, we conducted various programs at our college, including plantation, rallies, Manava Haram, essay writing, elocution, singing, drawing, and sports. For boys, the sports events included kabaddi, volleyball, and a 100-meter run. For girls, the sports events included a 100-meter run, speed walking, skipping competitions, and cultural events.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions. All teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as NSS volunteers and students, participated in the program and contributed to its success.
