On the occasion of National Science Day (28.02.2026), an Interdisciplinary Guest Lecture on the topic “Green Revolution – Seed Technologies” was organized for the B.A. students of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram, West Godavari District.
The session was delivered by Dr. Ch. Chaitanya, Lecturer in Botany, who served as the Resource Person. In her lecture, she provided students with a clear and scientifically grounded understanding of modern seed technologies, particularly Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). She explained the biological principles, agronomic relevance, and safety aspects of GM seeds, thereby complementing the economic and historical perspectives studied in the classroom.
Dr. Chaitanya effectively addressed common misconceptions with scientific clarity, enriching the students’ academic understanding. The session witnessed the active participation of 28 students, who interacted enthusiastically with the resource person at the end of the lecture.
The programme reflected the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, especially its emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, scientific temper, and critical thinking. The lecture successfully bridged the disciplines of Economics and Botany in a meaningful and pedagogically effective manner.
The Department of Economics expressed its appreciation for the valuable academic contribution of the resource person and looks forward to continued interdisciplinary collaboration in the future.
