In compliance with the guidelines of APCCE and under the leadership of Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Government Degree College, Ganapavaram observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2025 as part of the Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA).
The event was jointly organized by NSS Units I & II, the Eagle Club, and the Police Department of Ganapavaram, with enthusiastic participation from faculty, students, and local law enforcement personnel.
The programme began with a Rally and Human Chain, spreading powerful slogans and messages against drug addiction in and around the college premises. Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari flagged off the rally and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the urgency to raise awareness among youth about the perils of drug abuse and the importance of leading a responsible, addiction-free life.
Sub-Inspector Sri A. Manikumar, Ganapavaram Police Station, attended as the Chief Guest and delivered an impactful address on the legal and health consequences of drug use, referring to provisions of the NDPS Act. He urged students to stay away from harmful substances and choose a path of discipline and awareness.
The day featured a series of student-engaging activities, including poster making, slogan writing, and a pledge ceremony. NSS volunteers, faculty members, and non-teaching staff joined hands in making the event impactful and meaningful.
Key faculty participants included Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Dr. G. Venkata Ramana, Sri NVNB Srinivasarao, Dr. Sk. Parveen, Sri Sk. Moin Ansari, and Sri P. Bhaskararao, who extended their support and participation throughout the programme.
The programme successfully delivered a strong message against substance abuse, reinforcing a commitment among students to lead a healthy, conscious, and addiction-free life. The college also felicitated SI Sri A. Manikumar in appreciation of his continuous support and community outreach efforts.
