The NSS Unit–I of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram began the 7-Day NSS Special Camp with 50 Student Volunteers on 23 November 2025 at Kottapalli Village, Saripalle Panchayat, Ganapavaram Mandal, West Godavari District. The camp is being conducted under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. G. Venkata Ramana.
The programme commenced with a formal inauguration, during which Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari conveyed her best wishes and appreciated the volunteers for dedicating themselves to community service. Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani encouraged the students to develop leadership qualities and social awareness through their active participation. IQAC Coordinator Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar highlighted the importance of NSS in nurturing responsible citizenship.
➤ Forenoon Session: Orientation Programme
Day-1 started with an Orientation Session for all NSS volunteers.
- Dr. G. Venkata Ramana, NSS Programme Officer, explained the objectives, responsibilities, code of conduct, safety measures, and expected discipline throughout the camp.
- Volunteers were introduced to the complete 7-day activity plan, which includes cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, surveys, village interaction, health campaigns, cultural evenings, and community service.
➤ Awareness Programme on NSS & Social Responsibility
An awareness session was conducted to introduce students to:
- The motto and philosophy of NSS,
- The role of youth in community development,
- Civic responsibility, sanitation, and environmental awareness.
Volunteers actively shared ideas and participated in discussions.
➤ Ice-breaking & Group Formation Activities
To build coordination and teamwork, volunteers took part in:
- Introduction round
- Group formation for committees such as Cleanliness, Cultural, Documentation, Food, and First Aid
- Ice-breaking activities to enhance interaction and unity
➤ Cleanliness Drive at Kottapalli Village
As part of Day-1, the volunteers organized a cleanliness drive in Kottapalli Village. They cleared public spaces, cleaned surroundings, removed weeds, and interacted with villagers to promote awareness on hygiene and cleanliness.
➤ Cultural Activities
In the evening, NSS volunteers presented cultural performances, including songs, skits, and motivational pieces. These activities encouraged teamwork and created an enthusiastic environment for the remainder of the camp.
➤ Outcome of Day-1
- Volunteers gained clarity on the purpose, discipline, and structure of the special camp
- Students developed a sense of team spirit, leadership, and service orientation
- The cleanliness drive helped create positive interaction with villagers and spread awareness
- Cultural activities boosted volunteer motivation for the upcoming days
