The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of S.CH.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram, successfully organized a One-Day Workshop on “Super GST – Super Savings” on 11th October 2025. The program aimed to create awareness among students and faculty about the GST 2.0 reforms, their significance, and the benefits they bring to the common man and small businesses.
Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, presided over the programme and highlighted that the GST 2.0 reforms mark a major step toward a transparent and simplified tax system, ensuring fair taxation and promoting national economic growth. She emphasized that such awareness programmes bridge classroom knowledge with practical understanding of financial systems.
The Chief Guest, Sri Pakalapati Mariya Das, IRS, Assistant Commissioner, Central Tax and Customs, Vijayawada, explained in detail how the GST system functions, its structure, and how the reforms lead to super savings for households, small businesses, and the middle class. He encouraged students to understand GST not merely as a tax system but as a nation-building reform that promotes accountability, transparency, and self-reliance.
The Resource Person, Sri M. Nageswara Rao, Superintendent, Central GST Department, Vijayawada, and NACIN Trainer, delivered an informative session on the technical aspects of GST 2.0, classification of goods and services, and the practical benefits of the new rate adjustments for common citizens.
Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Vice Principal, and Sri K.V. Ganesh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator, appreciated the Commerce Department for coordinating the programme and for promoting financial literacy among students. Retired Vice Principal Sri P. Madhu Raju attended as the Guest of Honour and congratulated the organizers for conducting such a relevant and educative event.
The event concluded with distribution of certificates and cultural performances by students reflecting the theme “Super GST – Super Savings.”
Smt. P. Balamanikanta, Lecturer in Commerce, coordinated the workshop with the support of the Commerce Department faculty Smt. B. Rani Durga and Sri S. Venkanna Babu. Faculty members and students from various departments actively participated in the interactive sessions.
