Telugu Bhashaa Dinothsavam & Events 23 to 29 August

In view of the Telugu Bhaashaa Dinotsavam (Telugu Language Day) on 29th August, marking the birth anniversary of eminent Telugu writer Sri Gidugu Venkata Rama Murthy Panthulu, Telugu Bhaashaa Vaarothsavaalu (a Week Day Celebrations) began by the Dept. of Telugu on 23rd August in the college. The schedule lists out various literary and cultural programs from August 23 to 29 to spread awareness on the importance of protecting Telugu language and passing it on to the future generations. On the inaugural day, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal and Dr. GV Ramana, Asst. Professor of Telugu spoke about the great cultural importance of Telugu language and its unique genres. Competitions on Telugu poetry and proverbs were conducted for the students. All the faculty and about 60 students participated in the event.

On 29th, Telugu Language Day was organized, making speeches by the Chief Guest Sri P. Brahmaji garu, Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, IQAC Coordinator Dr. T. Akkiraju, WEC Convener Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, and Dr. GV Ramana from Telugu Dept. Students also expressed their views on preserving Telugu language. Later, the winners in the literary competitions were given away prizes.

Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy (1863-1940) was a Telugu writer and one of the earliest modern Telugu linguists and social visionaries during the British rule.
