Field Trip to Chettipeta Mini Hydel Power Station-08.04.2025

The Department of Physics, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, organized a field trip to the Chettipeta Mini Hydel Power Station on 08.04.2025 for first-year B.Sc. Physics Minor students. A total of 16 students participated in this educational visit aimed at enhancing their practical understanding of power generation through experiential learning.

The visit was graced by the presence of Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, who interacted with the students and appreciated their enthusiasm for learning beyond the classroom. Madam stated,
“Field visits like these are essential for students to move beyond textbooks and gain practical exposure through real-time experiences.”
The students and faculty received a warm welcome at the hydel station by Sri VVNSSR Krishnam Raju, Assistant Engineer, and Mr. Sharief, Junior Engineer, along with the dedicated staff of the power station. They explained the entire process of power generation, including the functioning of turbines, generators, and the control systems in place for effective hydel power management.

The technical tour offered the students valuable insights into the working of renewable energy systems, contributing significantly to their understanding of sustainable energy solutions.

Faculty members who accompanied the students:

  • Sri K.V.Ganesh Kumar, Lecturer in Physics
  • Sri K. Giribabu, Lecturer in Computer Science
  • Smt. A. Swathi, Lecturer in Physical Education

Both faculty members played an instrumental role in coordinating the visit and guiding the students throughout the program. Sri K.V.Ganesh Kumar, Lecturer in Physics coordinated the event.

Key Learning Outcomes:

  • Gained hands-on exposure to hydel power generation systems.
  • Understood the practical implementation of theoretical physics concepts.
  • Improved observation, analytical, and teamwork skills.
  • Developed awareness about the importance of renewable energy.

This field trip stands as a successful initiative by the Departments involved, highlighting their dedication to offering holistic and practical education that complements classroom learning.
