World Tuberculosis Day Awareness Programme-24.03.2026

The Departments of Social Work and Zoology of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram jointly organized an Awareness Programme on the occasion of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on 24 March 2026 in the Seminar Hall.

The programme aimed to educate students about tuberculosis (TB), its causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, prevention, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment adherence. The programme also emphasized the role of youth in supporting the national goal of TB elimination in India.

The session included informative presentations, interactive discussions, and a question–answer session, which actively engaged the students and enhanced their understanding of TB and its prevention.

The resource person, Dr. Omkarnadh, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre (PHC), Ganapavaram, explained the epidemiology of TB and highlighted the burden of the disease in India. He stressed the importance of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and the need for community participation in controlling and eliminating TB.

On this occasion, the Principal of the college, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of awareness, early detection, and prevention of tuberculosis. She encouraged students to spread correct information and help reduce the stigma associated with the disease.

Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Lecturer in Economics, highlighted the importance of maintaining proper hygiene, nutrition, and timely medical care to prevent the spread of TB and motivated students to participate in health awareness activities.

The programme successfully created awareness among students, who pledged to spread knowledge about TB prevention and support affected individuals in their communities. The event concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the institution’s commitment towards public health awareness and social responsibility.
