As part of the Swarna Andhra – Swachha Andhra (SASA) initiative, S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram organized a college-level awareness activity on “Plastic-Free Andhra” on 16.05.2026.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, with the objective of promoting awareness on reducing single-use plastics and encouraging environmentally responsible practices among students and staff.
Addressing the participants, the Principal emphasized the importance of minimizing plastic usage, adopting sustainable alternatives, and contributing towards a cleaner and greener Andhra Pradesh. She encouraged students to take an active role in spreading awareness about plastic pollution and environmental conservation.
The activity highlighted the harmful effects of plastic waste on ecosystems, public health, and biodiversity, while stressing the need for collective action to create a plastic-free environment. Students were motivated to practice responsible waste management and promote eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. G. Venkata Rao, Lecturer in Social Work and SASA Coordinator. Teaching staff, non-teaching staff, and students actively participated in the activity, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of a Plastic-Free Andhra Pradesh.
