On the occasion of World Population Day – 2025, a meaningful awareness activity was organized jointly by the Department of Economics, NSS Units, and the Inclusive Centre of Sri Chintalapudi Varaprasada Murthy Raju Government Degree College, Ganapavaram. The theme for this year emphasized empowering young people to make informed reproductive choices and shape families in a just and hopeful world.
Theme: “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world”
As part of the initiative, a Community Opinion Survey was conducted by the students of II B.A. to collect perceptions on family planning. A Google Form was designed to capture community views on key topics such as awareness, decision-making, youth education, socio-cultural beliefs, and accessibility of family planning services.
A total of 233 responses were gathered and analyzed. The findings highlighted several critical issues:
- Family planning decisions were often male-dominated, especially in rural settings.
- Cultural and religious misconceptions acted as barriers to adopting modern methods.
- Respondents suggested the need for better awareness, improved healthcare outreach, youth-focused education, and stronger government support systems.
The activity helped students understand real-world social dynamics related to family planning and contributed to their awareness as responsible future citizens.
Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Ch. Chaitanya, Dr. Ch. Anuradha, In-charge of the Inclusive Centre, NSS Coordinators Dr.G.Venkata Ramana & Sri Sk.Ansari appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty and emphasized the importance of such community-centered activities in shaping youth perspectives.
