Sri Chintalapati Vara Prasada Murthy Raju Government Degree College, Ganapavaram conducted an IQAC Quality Initiative on Energy Conservation titled “WattWatch @ GDC Ganapavaram – Smart Energy, Smart Campus” on 15 December 2025, in collaboration with the Department of Physics.
The programme was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students on the importance of energy conservation and efficient utilization of electrical energy, in alignment with the State Energy Conservation Awards (SECA–2025) guidelines.
The event was held under the guidance of Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, who emphasized that energy conservation is a shared responsibility and encouraged students to adopt energy-saving practices in their daily lives and on the campus.
Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani highlighted the role of youth in promoting sustainable practices and the need to develop an energy-conscious mindset for a greener future.
As part of the programme, a PPT-based awareness talk was delivered to students, explaining practical methods of conserving energy in classrooms, laboratories, hostels, and homes. This was followed by an online quiz conducted through the QUIZZ platform, in which students actively participated using their mobile phones, making the session interactive and engaging.
The programme primarily targeted First Year Degree students, while other interested students also took part with enthusiasm. In addition, students were assigned a Project-Based Learning (PBL) activity focusing on analyzing energy consumption patterns in the college and identifying scope for energy conservation.
The programme was coordinated by Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator, with the support of the Department of Physics. The initiative successfully enhanced students’ awareness of sustainable energy practices and reinforced the institution’s commitment to quality, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
