GIDUGU RAMA MURTHY PANTULU JAYANTHI

Sri Chintalapati Varaprasada Murthy Raju Government Degree College, Ganapavaram, celebrated Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam on 29 August 2026 with enthusiasm and cultural fervour, commemorating the birth anniversary of the eminent Telugu language reformer Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy Pantulu. The programme was organized by the Department of Telugu as part of the college’s academic and cultural activities for the academic year 2026–27.

The celebrations recalled the significant contribution of Gidugu Ramamurthy Pantulu towards the development and popularization of Vyavaharika Telugu, emphasizing the importance of making the Telugu language accessible and relevant to everyday communication. The programme also highlighted the need to preserve Telugu language, literature, culture and traditions while encouraging students to use Telugu with pride in contemporary life.

As part of the celebrations, the Department of Telugu conducted a series of competitions from 24 to 29 August 2026 to encourage students to develop their literary, linguistic and creative skills. The competitions included essay writing, elocution, storytelling, singing, Telugu literature quiz, traditional Telugu cuisine and traditional dress. Students participated actively and demonstrated their talents with enthusiasm.

The programme also provided an opportunity for students to connect with Telugu literary traditions and cultural practices. Winners and participants were recognized for their performance in the various competitions. The prize list included students from different programmes such as B.Sc. and B.Com, reflecting broad student participation.

The celebrations concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting the Telugu language among students and encouraging its meaningful use in academic, social and cultural life.
