S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram successfully organized the Zero Litter Governance Initiative on 21-02-2026 under the prestigious Swarna Andhra – Swachh Andhra Programme of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The programme aimed at promoting cleanliness, waste segregation, reduction of single-use plastics, and sustainable environmental practices among students.
On this occasion, Principal Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari emphasized the importance of maintaining a litter-free campus and cultivating responsible environmental habits. The programme was conducted under the coordination of Dr. G. Venkatarao, Lecturer in Social Work (SASA Coordinator).
As part of the initiative, students and staff participated in an awareness rally and took a pledge on Zero Litter Governance. A campus-wide clean-up drive was carried out, and students were trained in waste segregation using colour-coded bins. Awareness sessions were also conducted on plastic reduction and composting of biodegradable waste.
The programme witnessed active participation from students and faculty, leading to improved awareness and a visibly cleaner campus environment. The initiative reinforced the college’s commitment towards sustainability and environmental responsibility.
