Department of Economics successfully organized a Student Seminar on “Life Insurance Companies in India” for the III B.A. Economics students from 23rd July to 27th July, 2026 as part of its co-curricular activities.
The seminar aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the Indian life insurance sector while strengthening their research, analytical, presentation, communication, and teamwork skills. A total of 17 students participated and were divided into five groups, with each group assigned leading life insurance companies such as LIC, SBI Life Insurance, Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance, and other prominent insurers operating in India.
Students conducted extensive research and delivered PowerPoint presentations covering the history, products and services, market position, customer benefits, financial performance, claim settlement ratio, digital initiatives, and recent developments of the assigned companies. Out of the 17 participants, 12 students presented their seminars, followed by interactive discussions and question-and-answer sessions that encouraged critical thinking and active learning.
A unique feature of the programme was the peer evaluation process, where students assessed the presentations based on content quality, subject knowledge, presentation skills, confidence, communication, and effective use of visual aids. Participants identified the top three presenters and suggested areas for improvement for others, fostering constructive feedback and healthy academic competition.
The seminar provided an excellent platform for experiential learning and significantly enhanced students’ knowledge of the life insurance industry. It also helped develop their public speaking, research, analytical, and professional presentation skills, making the programme a valuable and enriching academic experience.
