S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Programme from 22.06.2026 to 26.06.2026 in accordance with the guidelines of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR). The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society.
The programme was organized under the leadership of the EAGLE Club, in association with the Department of Chemistry and NSS Units I & II. During the five-day awareness campaign, students participated in a Drug-Free Pledge, an awareness rally, interactive awareness sessions, and the screening of short educational films highlighting the dangers of drug abuse.
The awareness films focused on the causes and consequences of substance abuse, addiction, physical and mental health hazards, social and economic impacts, and the importance of making responsible life choices. Students were encouraged to cultivate healthy lifestyles, resist peer pressure, and actively contribute to building a drug-free society.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, emphasized that awareness and preventive education are the most effective tools in protecting young people from substance abuse. She urged students to adopt positive habits, maintain good physical and mental health, and become ambassadors for a drug-free community.
Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Vice Principal, highlighted the crucial role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens and guiding youth towards ethical values, social responsibility, and healthy living.
The programme was coordinated by Sri N. V. N. B. Srinivasa Rao, EAGLE Club Coordinator and Lecturer in Chemistry, along with Dr. G. Venkata Ramana and Sri Sk. Moin Ansari, NSS Programme Officers of Units I & II. Faculty members and students actively participated in all the activities, making the campaign successful and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to creating awareness against drug abuse and promoting a safe, healthy, and drug-free campus.
