On the occasion of International Plastic Free Day, the Eco Club in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units organized a Plastic Removal Drive in the college campus to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students.
The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, with the support of Dr. K. Swarupa Rani, Vice Principal, and Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar, IQAC Coordinator.
The activity was coordinated by Dr. S.K. Parveen, Eco Club Convenor, along with Dr. G. Venkata Ramana and Sri S.K. Moin Ansari, NSS Programme Officers. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, NSS volunteers, Eco Club members, and a large number of students actively participated in the programme.
As part of the activity, participants collected and removed plastic waste from various locations across the college campus and disposed of it responsibly. The drive aimed to create a clean, healthy, and plastic-free environment while sensitizing students to the harmful effects of single-use plastics on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health.
An awareness session was also conducted highlighting the importance of reducing plastic consumption, adopting eco-friendly alternatives, and practicing responsible waste management. Students enthusiastically took a pledge to minimize the use of single-use plastics and to actively contribute towards maintaining a clean and green campus.
Addressing the participants, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, Principal, emphasized that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility and encouraged everyone to adopt sustainable lifestyles by reducing plastic usage and promoting environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives.
The programme concluded successfully with the wholehearted participation of students, faculty members, and staff, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the development of responsible citizenship.
