In accordance with the instructions issued by the Commissionerate of Higher Education, Andhra Pradesh, regarding the implementation of Anti-Drug Initiatives and the creation of Drug-Free Campuses, the EAGLE Club of S.Ch.V.P.M.R. Government Degree College, Ganapavaram, in collaboration with the Ganapavaram Police Station, organized an Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and its Harmful Consequences on 30 April 2026.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse, resistance to peer pressure, informed decision-making, and the importance of maintaining a drug-free educational environment.
The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. P. Nirmala Kumari, who emphasized the importance of youth awareness, discipline, and responsible behavior in building a healthy society and safe campus environment.
The chief guest, Sri A. Mani Kumar, Sub-Inspector of Police, Ganapavaram, explained the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical health, mental well-being, academic performance, and social life. He advised students to stay away from harmful substances and highlighted the importance of community vigilance and preventive awareness. He also explained the significance and usage of the “Sakthi App”, and staff members assisted students in installing the app.
On this occasion, Vice Principal Dr. K. Swarupa Rani highlighted the importance of student awareness and self-discipline.
IQAC Coordinator Sri K. V. Ganesh Kumar emphasized the role of educational institutions in promoting social responsibility and continuous awareness programmes.
As part of the initiative, a “Drug-Free Institution” banner was displayed prominently in the college campus, reinforcing the institution’s commitment towards maintaining a Drug-Free Zone.
The programme was conducted with the support of Sri N. V. N. B. Srinivasa Rao, Coordinator, EAGLE Club, and Dr. Sk. Parveen. Faculty members, non-teaching staff, police personnel, and students actively participated in the programme.
The awareness programme successfully sensitized students about the dangers of drug abuse and encouraged them to contribute towards building a drug-free society and safe educational environment.
